摘要
Process is such that the surface of the basic element, made from an Fe-base metallic material, is coated on the surface with a compressed alloy powder. This alloy comprises a eutectic P alloy with 4-7% P, 1-2.5 wt.% C, remainder Fe, or a eutectic Mo alloy with 10-25 wt.% Mo, 3-5 wt.% C, remainder Fe, or an alloy with 3-5 wt.% C, 2-10 wt.% Mo, 2-10 wt.% W, 5-20 wt.% Co, remainder Fe. The compressed powder is retained on the surface, heated under non-oxidising conditions for a maximum of 30 mins. at a temp. greater than alloy m.pt. and less than material surface m.pt., so that the alloy powder is molten. It is cooled to solidify as a coating which is machined to form most of the lip. Process yields wear-resistant and pore-free seal rings with flexibility to accommodate n uneven surface.
