Sepn. of U isotopes by selective excitation of a gaseous cpd. contg. then using laser beams comprises using uranium aluminium isopropylate. This cpd. has a vapour pressure of 150 millibar at 225 degrees C and decomposition pt. 270 degrees C and is more responsive than UF6 to excitation by the laser frequencies used.
