At least one fluid feed hole and at least one fluid drain hole are bored near enough vertically to the approx. zone in a crystalline rock formation having a temp. suited to the extraction of exploitable heat energy. The boreholes are kinked from their vertical alignment, into an alignment at right angles near enough to the compass direction of the probably fracture plane of the formation. The pipes are arranged so that the drain hole is above, parallel to and approx. in the same vertical plane as the fluid feed hole. Simultaneously the formation is broken out from the feed and drain holes so as to create a single large area fracture which connects the two bores hydraulically.
