TREATMENT OF REINFORCING SILICAS WITH AMIDOSILOXANES

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREReinforcing silica treated with short chain linearamidosiloxane of the formulaprovides a useful reinforcing filler for silicone elastomers.Silicone elastomer bases manufactured using this treated silicacan be cured by organic peroxides or the combination of organo-hydrogensiloxane and platinum catalyst. When the later curingsystem is used, the cured products exhibit considerable retentionof physical properties upon exposure to elevated temperatures fora significant period of time.
