Electrical generator powered by wave motion - has float on vertical guide rising by buoyancy and falling by gravity

A vertical column is embedded in the sea bed and extends to above the highest level reached by waves. A float of specific gravity 0.5 can move up and down the column on rollers. The float is firmly attached to belts or chains which run over wheels at the top and bottom of the column. The upper wheels are connected by a gear train to a dynamo. The float is raised by the waves and falls by gravity. It takes belts or chains with it and thus drives the dynamo to produce electrical energy.
