The invention relates to a billet turning device in which sagging chains are passed around first, rotationally fixed chain wheels and around second and third chain wheels, the last items mentioned being movable in accordance with the movement of opposite free ends of a bell lever rotatable in a vertical plane. The movement of the chains serves to turn a billet resting upon them. The billet turning device according to the invention is designed in such a way that both the turning and the fixing or clamping of a billet can be performed on the same apparatus.
