The miniature garden comprises a support of material having a rustic appearance and a movable substance in which plants can root. A water reservoir can be included and this contains nutritive substances, while a drainage system delivers water and substances by capillary action to the plant roots. The reservoir can be formed by a flexible pocket, or alternatively a flanged vessel with an aperture in a covering slab of stone, glass, wood, cork, earthenware etc. The garden can be constructed and planted to represent a mediterranean, alpine, Japanese or rockery-style landscape.
