Radial turbine impeller - has metallic hub and inlet vanes with impeller vanes in oriented synthetic fibre

The turbine impeller has a metallic hub (1) with an outer ring (2) and integral inlet vanes (9). Separate bushes (5) fit over the outer ring (2) and are retained by the fixing pins (6). A rear plate (8) formed from synthetic fibre supports the vanes (4). The vanes are made from synthetic fibre and wrapped around the bushes (5) and then stretched radially outwards to the impeller tip. The vanes (4) and the back plate are joined by a covering of woven fibre. The inner voids are filled with an expanded filler (11).
