Annulartransfer arcing contacts are disposed coaxial about thebutt-type contacts, with the arc which forms during inter-ruption moving out to these arcing contacts. Axial mag-netic field generating means are associated with thetransfer arcing contacts to maintain a diffuse arc duringinterruption.
