ANTISTATIC FABRICS INCORPORATING SPECIALTY TEXTILE FIBERS HAVING HIGH MOISTURE REGAIN AND ARTICLES PRODUCED THEREFROM

Woven, non-woven and knitted fabrics containing at least 1% by weight of special fibers composed of high molecular weight polymers of alpha carboxiliques aliphatic acids and beta-ethylenically unsaturated, aliphatic sulfonic acids and alpha beta-ethylenically unsaturated and hydroxy alkyl esters and glycidiles esters thereof which are crosslinked with a crosslinking density of about one crosslink per 40-100 repeating monomeric units of the homopolymer, capable of absorbing up to about 40% by weight of moisture without losing their mechanical strength properties and other textile properties. These fabrics have antistatic properties. These lightweight fabrics are suitable for the production of stockings, tights, underwear and others.
