A high ratio of antenna gain / area / product, with a sensitive element dual mode of operation, is designed to provide a more or less uniform distribution of gain over an angular range. The primary design (6) emitted at the antenna feed (2) is changed to bring the distribution of H-plane of that of the plane E (3). The main lobe and the side lobes of the primary pattern are projected onto the reflector (4) to create a secondary drawing (8) that approximates an ideal area beam.
