Method of supporting underground roadways, and roadway support

To support roadways in underground mining and tunnelling, the roadway wall is protected by specifically shaped bodies of construction material. These bodies of construction material are formed by fabric sheets which are shaped into individual tubes and have reinforcement which is encased by the construction material. After they are filled with construction material, these tubes are pressed individually or in groups against the rock until the construction material hardens or sets. Such a support can be used early for protecting the exposed rock, because the individual tube covers and protects only a correspondingly limited area. The individual tubes filled with construction material are supported against one another by the deformation or the pressing and thus form a continuous support wall additionally strengthened by the reinforcement. The pressing is effected by means of a formwork panel, which is supported, for example, on the heading machine and is appropriately shaped on the outside in order to facilitate the laying-on and holding of the tubes.
