Strike rate improvement appts. for weapon against airborne target - uses selective braking of fired shells with controlled detonation at optimum strike point at surface of imaginary sphere
The strike rate improvement device uses a control processor coupled to a target (Z) following radar and a transmitter for braking and detonating the fired shell. The shells fired from the weapon (G) reach spaced points (Pl..Pn) on the surface of an imaginary sphere (K) with the weapon (G) at its centre at the same point in time, effected by using different charges etc. for successive shells for obtaining differing velocities, or by selective braking. Pref. the points (Pl..Pn) are arranged around the estimated point of intersection (P) of the target (2) with the imaginary sphere (K), the timing being calculated to ensure that the missiles and the target (Z) reach the surface of the sphere (K) at the same time. USE/ADVANTAGE - For serial weapon. Improved strike accuracy.
