The newly developed rowing system has no oars such as are presently customary, but a drive system operated by muscle power is actuated, as a result of which the hull of the boat is moved forwards by the pistons sliding backwards, accompanied by displacement of the water. In the process, the necessary stroke of the piston in the cylinder is enlarged by the slides of the rolling seat, in order in this way to achieve higher outputs. It is very important that the rowing device has a slide plate which thereby permits easy rowing. This novel rowing system has diverse boat fittings and forms which meet the adaptations for different sports and body dimensions. The hulls of the boats can be equipped with one or more cylinders which are to be designed in accordance with the expected body power. A boat hull consisting of two parts is considered as a special craft which has the stability of a catamaran. Outriggers (outlyers) which increase the stability of the boat can be attached to the hulls of the boats. The boat is steered by means of a rudder device. An additional version is a drive system by means of drive fins (flippers) for children and youngsters indulging in sport (see Fig. 9). IMAGE
