PURPOSE:To volatilize the impurities contained in the sample during the ashing stage and to enhance reliability of the result of analysis by adding a rhodium nitrate aq. soln. to a sample and burning this mixture to ashes and thereafter atomizing them. CONSTITUTION:A sample is introduced into a graphite tube 1 from a sample introducing port 1b and a rhodium nitrate soln. is added. Thereby the two kinds of liquid are retained in a sample containing part. In this state, the tube 1 is raised in temp. to dry water contained in the sample and the rhodium nitrate soln. Successively the tube 1 is raised in temp. and these are burnt to ashes. Thereby tellurium contained in the sample is compounded with rhodium nitrate. Thus, the compound which is made stable until about 1,000 deg.C and is allow in volatility is formed and volatilization at ashing temp. is inhibited. In such stage that ashing has been finished, when the tube 1 is raised in temp. until about 1,500 deg.C suitable for analysis of tellurium, tellurium existing as stable substance in the ashing state is thermally cracked and atomized. Tellurium is atomized at concn. substantially contained in the sample and absorption is caused thereby.
