PURPOSE:To make it possible to readily obtain a recombinant domestic fowl in large quantities by culturing a microorganism containing a recombinant plasmid integrating a gene coding a recombinant bird prolactin derived from mDNA secreted from bird pituitary gland. CONSTITUTION:A pituitary organism of domestic fowl is crushed in a guanidinumthiocyanate solution to give mRNA (a) which is a poly(A)+RNA. Then the ingredient (a) is subjected to genetic manipulation of synthesis of complementary DNA by reverse transcriptase and treatment by restriction enzyme to provide the recombinant domestic fowl prolactin structural gene (b) coding an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula. Then the ingredient (b) is introduced into a plasmid pcPRL1, etc., to afford the recombinant plasmid (c). Then the transformer obtained by introducing the ingredient (c) into an Escherichia coli DHI strain, etc., is cultured in a desired culture medium at about 37 deg.C and the resultant cultured product is separated and purified to provide the recombinant domestic fowl prolactin which is a polypeptide having all or part of an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula.
