Drill turbine for deep boring has housing for coupling to drill pipe - and rotor driven by flushing fluid and coupled to drill bit, in unit having short length and high efficiency
This drill turbine, for driving a deep-boring arrangement, has a stator housing which can be coupled to a drill pipe and which contains a passage for a working fluid. The rotor, which has bearings in the stator housing and blades to receive the working fluid, can be coupled to a boring bit. The passage has a nozzle pipe (18), closed at one end, that enters the rotor (3). The wall of this pipe has tapering nozzle openings (20,21) that get smaller in the flow direction and lead outwards approx. tangentially for the working fluid to enter the bore (16) around the rotor, whose blades (17) are across the flow direction. The several variants claimed include a rotor brake, and the nozzle openings (20,21) and rotor blades being suitable for liqs. or gaseous fluids. USE/ADVANTAGE - The turbine is used for directly driving the drill bit when sinking deep boreholes, the flushing fluid being the working medium. It has a short axial length and high efficiency, combined with a large pressure-gradient.
