Track-to-train transmission of information and control signals - using evenly spaced transmitter elements along track providing coded pulse signal to moving train

Coded information and control signals are transmitted to a receiver (10,11,12,13) onboard the train (1) using a number of transmitter elements (5,6,7) along the rail at given spacing intervals. The intervals comprise an integrated part of the transmitted code. The decoder (14) within the train (1) detects the individual pulses provided by the transmitter elements (5,6,7) and indicates the absence of a pulse at the elementary spacing, for evaluating the transmitted signals. The track is provided with passive transceiver elements (5,6,7) electromagnetically coupled to the train circuit. The transmitter elements may alternatively be gamma radiation sources. ADVANTAGE - Simple and compact.
