Recycling thermoplastic FRP materials - where binder and fibres are similar polymers, by disintegrating FRP and heating within limits to prevent thermal fibre length degradation
Recycling thermoplastic FRP materials - where binder and fibres are similar polymers, by disintegrating FRP and heating within limits to prevent thermal fibre length degradation
A recovery process is applied to FRP with thermoplastic binder and reinforcements of synthetic fibres of the same or similar structure thermoplastic polymer, where both the upper and lower limits of the melting pt. range of the fibres are higher than those of the polymer binder, in all cases these ranges overlapping to a certain extent. In the process the FRP is heated and disintegrated so that it can then be moulded again and its modulus of elasticity, its impact strength and tensile strength are all at least 50% of the corresponding values of the binder polymer before the recovery process. ADVANTAGE - The procedure enables the FRP concerned to be used again (at least as the binder), where the FRP system uses virtually the same resin for binder and reinforcment
