A photographic copying system to produce hard copy from film passes a colour film negative (1) through a processor (4) to be developed. The processor has a positioning unit (11), various handling container (12-17), a drying unit (18) and a film stacking unit (19). With the film on a foil it is drawn out of the cassette and successively passed through the vessels by passing around a series of rollers. At a specific point the film is optically scanned by CCD line sensors. The data are then interpreted to control the printing process. ADVANTAGE - Reduces film processing time.
