A detection method for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureas (MRSA) or parts thereof in a sample using the disclosed peptides or derivs. thereof in immunological reactions with samples contg. antibodies against the MRSA and detection of an immunological complex. Also calimed is (a) MRSA-antibody detection in a sample using the disclosed and immobilised peptides, (b) isolated substantially pure MRSA-Penicillin binding protein (PBP) 2'-antigen, purified by affinity chromatography using a gel coupled to at least one of the peptides shown, (c) peptides of the sequences shown, (d) polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies reacting with MRSA-PBP2', (e) antibodies produced by hybridomas DM2-12, DM2-13, DM2-39, DM2-40, DM2-45, DM4-11, DM4-17, DM4-20, DM4-26, DM4-32, DM3-1. DM3-19 and DM3-26. USE/ADVANTAGE - Staphylococcus aureus causes dermatitis, pneumonia and organ failure. Since MRSA-infections are resistant to antibiotics and antimicrobial medicaments, for proper medication it first has to be established whether the disease is caused by MRSA, i.e. using the method above. Additionally MRSA is highly infectious and its detection is vital for appropriate precautions. In contrast to prior art methods using SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis for PBP2' in which the protein is often not pure and denatured thereby inhibiting the detection after cumbersome processing, the synthetically produced peptides in this method provide a simple and accurate MRSA-testa'-
