This cup is of the type comprising a substantially hemispherical outer metal cap (2) provided with two outer radial tabs (4, 5) provided with perforations (4a, 5a) for passage of fixation screws which can be engaged in the pelvis of the patient, outside the acetabulum, and an inner cap (3) made of a material more flexible than the metal, such as a bicompatible plastic like high-density polyethylene, also substantially hemispherical and housed inside the outer cap (2). The two outer radial tabs (4, 5) for fixing the outer metal cap (2) are fixed to the upper posterior part of its outer spherical face, at a certain distance from the edge of this part, it being possible for the distance to be of the order of one centimetre, one (4) of these tabs, or the upper tab, being oriented along a direction parallel to the axis of the femur.
