Process for long-term determination and continuous monitoring of the pollutant content of gas-borne aerosols of exhaust gas streams loaded with liquid constituents or liquid droplets downstream of flue scrubbers of large furnaces or waste incineration plants, including isokinetic sampling of portions from the aerosol stream by means of reduced pressure and at least partial heating of the sampling probe with the following process steps: a) evaporating the liquid in the droplets of the aerosols sampled by suction by further heating above the temperature for example of the flue gases, b) continuously separating off the coarser solids, for example in a gas cyclone, with continuous ejection of the separated-off solids, for example by a time-controlled lock, and transfer of the solids into collectors, c) continuously separating off the vapours by condensation with subsequent gas scrubbing stages, d) determining the pollutant distribution of the exhaust gas stream by calibration measurements of the sample material obtained from the collectors, from the condensation stages and from the scrubbing stages, e) restricting the continuous pollutant separation, after determining the pollutant distribution, in each case to separating off the solids or to continuously separating off the vapours and/or the gas scrubbing stages and balancing the same.
