Source controlled channel encoding method - expanding Viterbi algorithm to increase or decrease some states to give priority to certain information bits with apriori or aposteriori information.
The method involves increasing or decreasing a number of states, e.g. the state where uk=+1, through a metric supplement Bk, to give priority to a set information bit. This provides a-priori or a-posteriori information which is adapted to a metric increment from a probability P(uk=1) : lambda k = EPSILON (ak,ixk,iyk,i) from i=l to N. Bk=(UkLk)/Lok with a binary symmetrical channel (BSC). Bk=(UkLk)/(Es/No(log(e))) with Gaussian and fading channels, where UkLk=log(P(Uk=+1)/(P(Uk=-1)), and Es/No is the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and Lok=log((1-Pok)/(Pok)) is calculated with the error probability Pok of the binary symmetrical channel.
