The three adjusting screws (2) of ther tripod stand are spaced at equal angular distances. A measuring unit with a surveyor's tape determines the height of the instrument. The measuring unit has a measuring screw (7) screwed to the stand plate (1) at a selected height. The lower end of the screw (7) has a hook (10) in which the surveyor's tape can be suspended by its eyelet. The tape has a stop at its lower end for setting to the fixed point, relating to the height of the instrument to be measured. ADVANTAGE - Exact measurement of instrument height can be made with low structural cost and with few hand grips.
