Process for the preparation of complexes of nickel(II) containing an anionic coordination compound of the formula IMAGE where Y and Z are the coordinating atoms and - Y = P, As or Sb - Z = O, S or Se and - R1, R2, R3 and R4 are hydrocarbon groups, and use of these compounds in the catalytic oligo- and polymerisation of olefins and acetylenes.
