PURPOSE:To obtain the subject preventing and treating agent more profitable and effective than interferon and functioning without causing side effects. CONSTITUTION:The agent for preventing and treating AIDS and viral diseases such as chronic hepatitis, B type hepatitis or C type hepatitis contains a neutral protease selected from a neutral protease produced from a Streptomyces microbe, a serratia peptidase produced from a Serratia microbe, and thermolysin produced from a Bacillus microbe as an active ingredient. The neutral protease includes trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, bromelain, papain, and sephaprose, and has extremely strong antiinflammatory action, antiviral action, anti-AIDS action, immune-increasing action and steroid-like action. The preventing and treating agent is administered at a dose of 1-5000mg/day for an adult on oral administration.
