FIELD: experimental aerodynamics. SUBSTANCE: cryogenic transonic wind tunnel used to realize proposed process of cooling has high-pressure chamber 1 with mobile partition 2, pulse shutting-controlling valve 3, nozzle 4, perforated throttling diaphragms 5, mixing chamber 6 placed in front of outlet section of nozzle 4 and working part 7. Liquid (or gaseous) cooling agent is supplied into space of high-pressure chamber 1 when pulse shutting controlling valve is closed. Then forcing gas is supplied into high-pressure chamber 1 behind mobile partition 2 and cooling agent is compressed. Working gas is fed into mixing chamber 6, is throttled across last diaphragm 5 of nozzle 4 and is fed into working part 7. Then shutting-controlling valve 3 is open, cooling agent is forced out of high-pressure chamber 1 by means of mobile partition 2 and is throttled across perforated diaphragms 5. In mixing chamber 6 cooling agent is mixed with working gas and mixture is supplied into working part 7. Heat taken by cooling agent and working gas during compression is compensated by Joule-Thomson effect during throttling. Invention makes it possible to decrease' needed amount of cooling agent and to expand range of Reynolds lumbers realized in transonic wind tunnel.
