The modular gate assembly with standard width gates (1) is adaptable to different opening widths by fixing onto one or both tubular uprights (2) an extension (3,4). The extension comprises square section tubes (3,4) having side holes of diameter greater than the diameter of the shank and less than the diameter of the fixing bolt heads (8,16). In the opposite side are holes with a diameter greater than that of the bolt heads. The extension fixing bolts in the top and bottom part pass through its transverse holes and transverse holes in the upright. The bolts pass into tapped holes in a support plate introduced into the upright. Two spacers (5) of the same length are inserted between the gate upright and the extension and passed through by bolts (16).
