PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the meandering resistance and arc spot resistance of a steel strip by providing the surface of a conductor roll which continuously transports and energizes the steel strip to be treated with an electroplating device, etc., with many pieces of ruggedness. ;SOLUTION: While the steel strip 2 is continuously transported, the steel strip is energized by the conductor roll 1 at the time of subjecting the steel strip 2 to an electrochemical treatment, such as electroplating. In such a case, the rugged parts having the depth of recessed parts 4 of 5 to 100μ and the smooth area ratio of projecting parts 5 of 10 to 80% are formed by a method, such as chemical etching, on the surface of the conductor roll 1. Even if a plating liquid and air are carried over between the steel strip 2 and the conductor roll 1 according to the transportation of the steel strip 2, the plating liquid and air are discharged from between the spacings between the recessed parts 4 of the conductor roll 1 and the steel strip 2 and since the steel strip 2 is transported in tight contact with the conductor roll 1, the meandering in the transverse direction of the conductor roll 1 and the generation of arc spots between the conductor roll 1 and the steel strip 1 are prevented and the productivity of the plating treatment is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
