PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refractory excellent in corrosion and creep resistances by composing the refractory of a raw material of a sintered or a fused alumina, zircon and baddeleyite and specifying the component composition and physical properties. ;SOLUTION: This alumina-zircon-baddeleyite-based refractory is obtained by regulating the component composition to 50-80wt.% Al2O3, 5-15wt.% SiO2 and 15-40wt.% ZrO2, the bulk specific gravity to ≥3.30, preferably 3.30-3.45 and the creep deformation ratio after the passage of 24hr under conditions of 1600°C and 0.5MPa to ≤2.0%, preferably 0-1.5% or using a sintered or a fused alumina, zircon and a fused alumina-zirconia as a raw material and regulating the component composition to 50-80wt.% Al2O3, 5-15wt.% SiO2, 15-35wt.% ZrO2, the bulk specific gravity to ≥3.30, preferably 3.30-3.45 and the creep deformation ratio after the passage of 24hr under conditions of 1600°C and 0.5MPa to ≤2.0%, preferably 0-1.5%.
