PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove tundish slag by lowering the m.p. and the viscosity of the tundish slag without newly providing the equipment and without causing any contamination of molten steel, the deterioration of cleanliness and the erosion of refractory. ;SOLUTION: In a synthetic flux added in the tundish at the last casting heat in continuous casting of a steel, this chemical composition in the molten state contains 1-50wt.% SiO2, 1-30wt.% Al2O3, 20-70wt.% CaO, 5-30wt.% one or more kinds of Na2O, K2 and Li2O and 5-30wt.% F, and the adding quantity thereof is controlled to 10-50wt.% to the tundish slag. By this method, the tundish slag can easily be removed and the maintenance work for the tundish is efficiently executed, and the quality of cast slab quality at the succeeding casting time is remarkably improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
