A self unloading bulk carrier comprises a ship having a single centrally located conveyorpositioned within a conveyor tunnel inside the ship's cargo hold. The tunnel is designed with awide trough to increase the gravity flow of the cargo material. The ship further includes two selfpropelled reclaimers which include front loading shovels. The reclaimers are stored in a separategarage preferably located near the middle of the ship and are able to operate in either a fore or aftdirection within the cargo hold.
