PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the anisotropic texturing of an image space pixel using surface projection and silhouette analysis by Providing a process or the like for finding the cumulative number of complete and partial texels covering the total anirotropic area of foot print. ;SOLUTION: A displace base silhouette is projected on a related object polygon in a texture space as a foot print for each pixel. Then, the detailed level of texel consisting of the polygon is adjusted so that the shaded pixel foot print can cover the prescribed number of texels in the selected direction of the texture space. Further, the cumulative number of complete and partial texels covering the total anisotropic area of this foot print is found. A visual attribute found concerning that pixel is found from the total accumulation and while preserving visual attribute information concerning the pixel, the display of the pixel in the related scene is facilitated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
