PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for treating a thin-skin cocoon and separating the cocoon into thin skin and chrysalis without giving bad influence on the environment. ;SOLUTION: A dried thin-skin cocoon is partly incised, the incision is opened, the chrysalis is taken out of the cocoon and the thin skin is separated from the chrysalis by wind selection taking advantage of the specific gravity difference between the thin skin and the chrysalis. The apparatus to perform the above process comprises a cutting part to incise a part of a thin-skin cocoon between a rotary blade 14 and a rubber roll 15, and an opening claw to open the incision of the thin-skin cocoon in cooperation with a rotary basket 25 placed in a long horizontal box 22 and protruded ridges 26 on the inner circumference of the rotary basket 25. The apparatus is further provided with an opened cocoon separation part 12 having a rotary blade 28 to generate wind against a discharging port 24 of the rotary basket 25 and a chrysalis discharging conveyor 29 placed below the rotary basket 25.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
