A system for modeling 3D objects and 2D images by wireframe mesh constructionshaving data points that combined both spatial data (2a) and surfaceinformation (2b). The use of the complex data points allows the modelingsystem to incorporate both the spatial features of the object as well assurface features into the wireframe mesh (2c). The present invention's 3Dobject models do not require a separate texture map file for generatingdisplay or other object manipulations. The mesh constructions (2c-g) containsufficient color information such that the triangles of the meshes can berendered by any processor supporting linear or bilinear interpolation such asGouraud shading. For 2D systems the 2D mesh models (2c-g) created replacebitmap files and present a greater level of data compression and flexibilityin image manipulation than is currently available in compression systems. Themodeling system has dynamic resolution capability (2c-2g).
