A worm step-down gear has a worm shaft (1) and a worm gear wheel (2) with equidistant paddle-shaped teeth (3). The worm shaft has equidistant cam-like projections or paddles (D) whose position is adjustable axially, tangentially and for torsion. The paddle adjustment mechanism is within the worm shaft. The position of the teeth may be adjusted by a mechanism within the worm wheel.
