PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that particles suitable for an experiment can not be obtained when sands of the natural word are used in the experiment and observation to the behavior of particles having different particle size in liquid and the reproducibility of the experiment can be hardly obtained because the particle size and shape are varied and, further, a means to simply reproduce a liquefaction phenomenon phenomenon has not existed.;SOLUTION: The device for experimenting and observing the behavior of particles is formed by combing the first particles 4 of a large size which can be produced industrially in a uniform particle size, such as glass beads, etc., and the second particles 5 of a small size in a transparent container such as a PET bottle 1. At the experiment, the first particles 4 and the second particles 5 are entered into the PET bottle 1, proper quantity of water 2 is entered and the PET bottle 1 is capped, is stirred and mixed and, thereafter, is left standing. Then, the first particles of large size sink first and the processes of sedimentation and classification are thus observed. After the second particles also settle and is left standing, stratification of the particles is observed. Thereafter, when vibrations are applied to the container, the liquefaction phenomenon and sand boil phenomenon that the first particles and the second particles flow liquidly are observed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
