A centrifugal grinding mill reduces particulate matter to nano-dimensions using a tumbling circular action at low temperatures. The mill has a cylindrical case holding the loose granular charge with solid additives. The mill is held within a frame by two bearings separated by a gap. Each bearing supports especially a motor (16) powered grinding disc. The discs have hollow axles on a common axis (10) and mass balances which compensate for the cylinder tumble action. Also claimed is an operating process for the grinding mill. The outer side of each bearing support (4,5) is attached to a further support (34,35) for the articulated rotating axle approx. on the main axis (10), the other end of which is attached to the cylinder (20) axle stub (22). The hollow stub axles accommodate the feed and discharge tubes (60,62,64,66). The additives employed are carbon dioxide ice and liquid nitrogen. The grinding process takes place at less then -50 deg C or -80 deg C.
