Device to produce a salt mist comprises a pressurized air feed line (23); a suction line (16) connected to a salt water vessel (14); an atomizing nozzle connected to the outlet (18) of the pressurized air feed line; and a moistening unit (24) arranged in the pressurized air line. Independent claims are also included for: (a) salt testing chambers; and (b) a process for producing a salt mist. Preferred Features: The moistening unit additionally contains devices for heating the pressurized air introduced.
