The method involves connecting a network port in a system that is performing a task to a network, setting the state of each of a number of working list search fields in the system in response to entries via its operator interface, formulating a query for working list data that only corresponding to working list search fields with a first or second state in response to a search command entered via the operator interface and transferring the request to the network port with a target address corresponding to a remote working list broker.
