Eccentricity and tilting of a workpiece (4) placed on a table (5) are adjusted by driving the table using respective motors. A processor (2) computes the eccentricity and tilt of workpiece from the radial displacements on circumferential surface of the workpiece. Eccentricity/tilt compensating unit controls driving of both the motors on the basis of the output of processor to compensate eccentricity and tilt of workpiece. An Independent claim is also included for roundness measurement.
