An input device is provided for inputting the chosen landing distance for the aircraft (1) on the runway (2). The landing distance being defined as the distance between the runway ramp and an end position on the runway where the aircraft will have a chosen end speed. A braking mechanism is provided for braking the aircraft on the runway. A processor device connected to the input device and braking mechanism is used to determine a pre-selected landing point on the runway, calculate the degree of braking necessary in order to obtain the chosen landing distance and operate the braking mechanism accordingly.
