METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING SUPERFINE FIBERS FROM MAGMATIC ROCK

FIELD: production of mineral and refractory wool and fibers used for manufacture of heat-insulating, sound-insulating and filtering devices in various industries. SUBSTANCE: method consists in preheating the starting raw material in metering bin by convective heat and radiant energy released from surface of melt to temperature of 150 +50 C, delivery of raw material and melting it in induction furnace, local superheat of 30 to 50 % of melt in melting zone by 400 to 1000 C relative to high limit solidification temperature. After preliminary cooling of melt during passage through water-cooled channel and draining the melt to forehead of blowing head where temperature of melt is reduced to temperature which exceeds high level solidification temperature by 100 to 300 C; jets of melts are blown into fibers by compressed air at temperature of 170 to 220 C and pressure of 0.4 to 0.65 MPa. Device for realization of this method includes induction furnace which consists in its turn of metal cooled crucible and inductor; metering bin consists of metal reservoir and raw material feed mechanism, forehead with overflow channel mounted for turning about horizontal axis changing angle of inclination of axis of forehead and blowing head. Crucible is provided with cooled channel for delivery of melt and baffle dividing the crucible into communicating melting zone and output zone.
