The method involves cleaning objects in fields of standing sound waves, preferably ultrasonic waves, whereby the objects to be cleaned are placed in a medium to be subjected to the sound waves. The maxima and minima of the oscillations are displaced in order to homogenize the sound intensity in time and space within the medium exposed to the sound waves. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for implementing the method.
