Indicator for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (I), which reveals (I) selectively from a complex sample, is made in handy disks, strips or bars of chemically resistant material. An Independent claim is also included for a method in which measurement is carrier out under ultraviolet light at 254 nm after the indicator has been dipped in an n-hexane extract of the sample for some time, preferably for 15 seconds.
