The molten metal filter is a porous open material, which includes refractory particles embedded and bonded through the carbon matrix alliance material. The filter can be made of refracted particles (such as hard oxidant, carbide or graphite) and carbon intensive polymers such as tar, asphalt or organic (preferably aromatic) polymer, which can be degraded into carbon through high-temperature decomposition.Then the porous material is baked to produce a carbon base, which contains refractory particles. Porous materials are best coated with polyurethane foam and fire-resistant particles, preferably heated to a temperature not exceeding 800 degree C.
