A method of estimating the biomass of forests and trees by using remote-sensing high-resolution data from high places. The biomass of specific types of trees is estimated with high precision even in the cases of forests and trees where their crowns are not closed due to natural young growth shortly after being planted or young trees, or forests or trees where the crowns of even mature trees are not closed. High-resolution to ultra-high-resolution pictures are shot (11) using high-resolution satellites, air planes and radio helicopters, the pictures are captured into computers (12), portions other than specific types of trees are masked (13), the crown sizes (areas, longer diameters, shorter diameters) of specific types of trees left after the masking are measured (14), the spectral characteristics of the specific types of trees are measured (15), and the biomass of the specific types of trees is calculated from crown sizes (areas, longer diameters, shorter diameters) and spectral characteristics (16).
