Strain measurement sensor has a fiber optic link (6) linking a measurement fiber (7) placed on support material (8), the strain of which is to be measured, to a transmitter unit (4). The latter connects to a control and phase comparison unit (3) that is in turn linked to a base unit (1) via a bus system (2). A receiver (5) receives modulated light for use in determining phase displacement.
