PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display method for pulse wave measuring instrument and a pulse wave measuring instrument using the same with which propriety in the mounting state of a light emitting element or a light receiving element can be surely confirmed before starting measurement of pulse wave information. SOLUTION: When an arm mounting type pulse wave measuring instrument is switched into measuring mode for pulse wave information (step ST1), power is supplied to a data processing part (ST2). Continuously, initializing processing such as the setting of operating cycle for A/D conversion is performed (ST3). Next, processing is waited until pulse wave signals for one cycle are completely digitized (ST4), when an external operation for starting the measurement of time is not performed in ST5, the waveform of pulse wave signal is transformed (ST6), and the source waveform is graphically displayed (ST7). When the external operation for starting the measurement of pulse wave information is performed in ST5, the frequency of pulse wave signal is analyzed (ST8), and the result is converted to pulse data (ST9) later and displayed on a liquid crystal display device.
